Ted Blunt, candidate for Lt. Governor in 2008, has been making his rounds over the past four weeks. Spreading good cheer, he participated in both the Middletown and Wilmington holiday parades.
On the Democratic Party front, he met with the University of Delaware's Young Democrats and participated in a "Meet the Candidates" forum sponsored by the Wilmington Democratic Committee. And Ted was the speaker for the 14th District Democratic Committee's Fall Fiesta in Sussex County.
Because creating a positive future for our youth is a priority for Ted, in his role as City Council President, he and City Council awarded $100,000 to ten schools for academic enrichment programs. Another $100,000 was awarded to ten community agencies to assist with after-school mentoring programs. In addition, he was one of the speakers at the Lancashire Elementary School Blue Ribbon Celebration (Northern New Castle County).
In addition to these activities, Blunt was recognized at the following: The DuPont Company's 100th Year Celebration (Wilmington Main Headquarters), the First State Community Action Agency Annual Dinner and Meeting (Dover), the League of Local Governments' monthly meeting (Dover), and the Salvation Army's Awards Program. Ted also met with representatives of AARP, and was one of the presenters at the Senior Citizen's Ball in Wilmington.
In line with his commitment to creating healthy lifestyles, he was one of the speakers at the World AIDS Day Youth HIV Forum in Wilmington. There he presented a resolution honoring AIDS activist Hydeia Broadbent, a 23 year old who was born with the virus.
And lastly, Ted attended the historic University of Delaware vs. Delaware State University football game in Newark.
Ted and the Team are looking forward to seeing many more of you during December and wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season!
